Miami Heat & Portland Trail Blazers Claim Initial Wins After Player Arrests
Miami put up eighty-six first-half scores versus the Grizzlies
The Heat earned a decisive 146-114 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies in their initial basketball game since player Terry Rozier was detained for alleged illegal sports betting.
Portland Trail Blazers head coach Billups was additionally arrested in connection with a sweeping FBI probe into sports betting. The two individuals deny the allegations.
But, the Heat were not distracted as they put up eighty-six opening half points to be ahead of the Grizzlies by 39 after two quarters, the biggest halftime lead in the franchise's 37-year history.

League Commissioner Silver 'Upset' over Arrests
Addressing the arrests for the initial occasion, league head Adam Silver stated he was "very upset" by the incidents of the past few days.
"There's nothing more important to the league and its fans than the integrity of the competition," he told a broadcaster. "Therefore I had a pit in my stomach. It was very upsetting."
Silver also mentioned an league probe into Rozier's actions in spring 2023, when there was "aberrational betting" in a match he participated for the Charlotte Hornets versus the Pelicans, discovered no wrongdoing.
"It was brought to our attention by the regulators and the betting companies," he continued.
"We then looked into that situation and were very transparent about it. And while there was that aberrational betting, we, frankly, couldn't find anything.
"Federal authorities has legal authority... [it] can threaten to put people in jail, can take various actions that the league office can't do.
"Therefore, we've been working with them since then. And, of course, what they announced recently was an indictment.
"And 30 months later, he has not been found guilty of anything, in fairness to Terry.
"Clearly, it doesn't look good, but he's been suspended, and so it is a balance here between upholding rights and investigating."
