British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos confirmed on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge follows the sports world shared sympathy for the fighter in the wake of the devastating accident.
